The Sage House Model brings together local dementia services in one place putting the person with dementia at the centre.
The Challenge
A report in 2019 sighted the cost of dementia to the UK economy in 2019 was £34.7 billion with the projected cost to the economy being £59.2 billion in 2030 and £94.1 billion by 2040.

There are currently estimated to be 944,000 people living with dementia in the UK with the prevalence projections estimating that this will rise to 1 million people in 2030 and 1.6 million people in 2050.

One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime, either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.
Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia are ranked as the world’s 7th leading cause of death in 2019.
In the UK, figures show that dementia was the leading cause of death in 2022, accounting for 74,261 deaths during the year.

The impact of a dementia diagnosis is felt throughout the family unit, with many carers feeling ‘ignored’ or that they ‘don’t matter'.

Only 29% of carers feel that they have been able to access support when they needed it.

Why it's not good enough
We believe that people living with dementia, their families and carers deserve better quality and more consistent information and support to help them navigate the dementia journey and to live well with dementia.
It is our mission to bring the Sage House Model to communities across the UK.
