Richard joined Dementia Support Chichester as an External Committee Member in 2020 and was invited to join the Board of Trustees in 2021. Richard is Deputy Chair and Co-Chairs the Finance, Fundraising and Marketing Committee.
Richard's Dementia Support Story
He was motivated to join Dementia Support after experiencing first-hand the real issues faced when trying to obtain information, diagnosis and support for loved ones living with dementia. Richard passionately believes that the Dementia Support ONE location model fills the gap left between existing social and primary care services and he would like to see every community having access to integrated Dementia Support. He is certain that his late Mother would have experienced a much better quality of life if a Dementia Support hub had existed in the Midlands area at the time.
Outside of Dementia Support, Richard is a Chartered Surveyor and Director of a commercial property consultancy. Prior to this, he enjoyed a 32-year career in the commercial real estate and leisure markets. He was Property Director at MDL Marinas Group Limited for the last 7 years, having previously held senior property roles with EI Group Plc, Forte Hotels Plc and Grand Metropolitan Plc. He has lived on the South Coast for 25 years.
